Gangrene - Gutter Water [2010]

Gangrene, niggaaas. I picked this album up the other day at our local CD Plus which is going out of business so everything was 40%. With prices like that, why not experiment? I'd been looking at this album for a while because of the righteous cover art and I decided I'd pick it up. DAMN, I'M SURE GLAD I DID. This is some ill shit. This is definitely one of my favourite random purchases. It's probably my number two random purchase right after Warbringer's "Waking Into Nightmares". The gentlemen behind the brilliance that is Gangrene are The Alchemist and Oh No (as it so blatantly says on the cover). Definitely recommended if you're a fan of MF DOOM. In my opinion, Gangrene > DOOM. But MF's still rad shit. Hate on that.

múm - Yesterday Was Dramatic – Today Is OK [2000]

Now this is some good music to relax to. I was watching the black metal documentary, "Until the Light Takes Us" and the song in the intro was appealing to me. It was a relaxed, kind of electronic/ambient post-rock song and I liked it enough to look around on Youtube. After some searching, I found it was entitled "The Ballad of the Broken Birdie Records" by múm. So, I looked into them some more and they're really fucking cool. I grabbed their first album and am listening to it now and it's really good. Definitely something different here. múm are from Iceland and they play a mixture of electronic, ambient and post-rock to create this relaxing atmosphere of bliss. They were formed in 1997 and released their first album in 2000 which is of course "Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK". Since then, they've released six more albums.

Admiral Angry - Buster [2008]

Now this is some fucking bottom heavy tuneage. Check this shit if you want something to fucking crush your brain down to size. Sludgey, down-tempo and heavy as a motherfucker. This album is definitely one of the best things I've been listening to recently. It blends together heavy sludge and intense chaos. Stand out tracks on the album would be "Sex With a Stranger", "Kill Yourself" and "Plastic Bath". Admiral Angry are an extremely heavy sludge band from LA, California. They are signed to Shelsmusic Recordings and have this album and two EPs out. "9/11... Only Worse" and "A Fire to Burn Down the World". Definitely great, definitely heavy. Check this shit. You won't regret it.

Alcoholator - Drunker Than Thou [2010]

Here's some fucking great underground thrash metal for you! This demo is a little slice of Canadian drunken thrash and I'm fucking excited to be seeing these dudes and hanging out with them afterward in July! Five intense tracks of speeding thrash metal that will be sure to have you craving a beer and leave you with a sore neck. Doesn't get much better than that, if you ask me. Alcoholator emerge from Montreal, Ontario and their lineup consists of Matt Butcher (Abusor), Oli M-16, Phil Macht and Colonel Gedeon Mamano (Salvation). They recently signed to EBM Records and are going to be putting out a full length in the near future.

Obliteration - Nekropsalms [2009]

Been a long time since I posted something. I wasn't particularly busy, just... distracted, I guess. I have something different today then what I usually post. It's a death metal album by the Norwegian band Obliteration. It was released in 2009 and it fucking slays. Obliteration play old school styled death metal and they do it fucking well. They also experiment with doom and punk on this album which creates a hybrid of fast, slow and fucking heavy. Some stand out tracks on the album are "Catacombs of Horror" and "Nekropsalms Evoke the Frozen Age". Definitely for fans of OSDM in general, Autopsy, Obituary, Dismember, Asphyx and Abscess. Obliteration are from Kolbotn, Norway (also the hometown of Darkthrone) and formed in 2001.

Cough - Ritual Abuse [2010]

I just bought this album today because it said "Recommended for fans of: Electric Wizard, Eyehategod, etc." and I'll be damned if it doesn't sound exactly like Eyehategod with Jus Oborn on vocals. Fucking great release and I'm hoping to look more into these guys. Slow, crushing riffs. Dissonant atmosphere and droning vocals. If you like Electric Wizard or Eyehategod, fucking check these dudes out! Cough were formed in 2005 in Richmond, Virginia. They have two full lengths, an EP and a split album. Their lyrics are usually about misanthropy and sin. This is a fucking solid release and if you get the chance, pick it up. Five tracks of heavy, evil sludge/doom.

Bathtub Shitter - Dancehall Grind [2005]

Dancehall Grind is another one of my favourite grindcore albums. Bathtub Shitter are a fairly well known band amongst the grind scene and have put out great shit such as this album. I own this album and was asked by a friend to upload the better quality rip so I did and figured I'd share this with you guys as well. Bathtub Shitter are from Osaka, Japan and formed in 1996. They blend grindcore, death metal, thrash metal and punk into one shitstorm of intense grind. Their lyrical content has several references to shit, nature conservation and politics. They've released three full length, two comps, and three splits. This album will for sure fuck you up and knock you down.
